“The art is not in making money, but in keeping it.”
Sometimes making money can be a challenge. We work hard for the money, right?! But the art is being able to hold on to the pennies in your pocket. The art is putting those pennies into a savings account. The art is waiting to cash in those pennies until we truly need it.

In five years I want my family to take a vacation to Kenya, where I lived for nine years. We have many money goals to reach before then, but I wanted to keep the dream alive. I designated an empty wine bottle by decorating it with international stamps (so I couldn’t see inside) and put at least $20 bills in every now and then to save up for our spending money for that trip. The bottle is beautiful to look at and as the money goes in, it can’t come out unless I smash it, which won’t be happening until right before the trip. It’s a great way to save money while reminding myself of big vacation plans without the urge to spend it (as I would for sure do if it was in a savings account).
