Hey guys! I hope you all had an awesome summer that wasn’t too terribly drenched in sweat. I keep meaning to take my girls to a splash pad or the pool (that’s maybe fifty steps from my apartment), but when it’s hotter here in the Midwest than the Seventh Circle of Hell, I know no one will be happy. So we’ve spent most of the summer inside with the AC on and popsicles in hand. Still a winner in my book. :)
My July was pretty stellar. I guess you could say this is when I clocked my debt opponent with a right hook. He’s standing there, wobbling back and forth while pretty stunned, and I can tell I’m finally doing some serious damage. Total Savings? $1,126.84. Boom! As you recall, my goal is having all credit cards, personal debt and medical debt paid off by Christmas. I know it’ll be a little tricky since I have seasonal jobs but I still want to try. August tends to be a “lower month” for me, so we’ll see how it goes. Here’s a little test run, if you will, of what’s to come. And so far this month, I’ve had to get some car repairs taken care of. Grrr…responsibilities really can suck, you know? I guess I either can sulk about it or channel that frustration and get some work done.
I’m still playing around with the idea of picking up another job. I’ve been hesitant because I wanted to wait until school started for my oldest. I also wanted to make sure I would have time without neglecting my other responsibilities. I’ll let you guys know what I decide.
Moving on, let’s take a look at my damage:
Credit Cards/Personal: $2,460.78 (down from $4,998.93)
Medical: $3,762.62 (down from $4,521.62)
Student Loans: $25,611.11 (down from $26,000.56)
YOU GUYS. Look at my Credit Cards/Personal debt. Look at the difference between three months ago and now! I’m halfway there! Whoa-oh!… are you singing Bon Jovi now? Ha! ;) Also, in that category, I’m praying I’ll pay off my last high-interest debt this month. Once that’s out of the way, I think I’ll be able to do some more damage since I won’t be paying 26.24% interest anymore. Yeah. You read that right. It’s just brutal. I want to kick it in the shins and knock it out!
On a less violent note… ;)
Being the minimalist that I am, I’ve discovered the joys of being content with less than what I have. I know, I know. It sounds “out there,” but hear me out for a second. There’s something to be said for really appreciating what you already have. Since going through my apartment this past month, I’ve happily donated six large trash bags of items. My home, my family, and my mind are happier, calmer, and full of peace. And the best part? I’m not missing what my life was like before then. I don’t feel the need to buy something to fill a void. All is well. It’s been great on my wallet and on my soul. :)
Thank you all for taking time out of your day to follow along with what’s going on with me. I’m really honored. I mean, you’re YOU. And you’re awesome! You’re kicking debt in the butt as well! Great job!
