People Who Are Rich

People Who Are Rich

There are two kinds of people in this world, people who have money and people who are rich. Personally, I’d much rather be someone who is rich. I feel rich when I think of my small, messy home. I feel rich when I look at my imperfect family. And I feel not only rich, but wealthy, when I can spend my money on experiences, not things.

Do you think of yourself as “rich?” Talk to me in the comments!

I get that, but I think it can be an important exercise to try to shift our thinking from money as “wealth” or “riches” to looking at our lives as a whole. I.E. do I lead a rich, fulfilling life?

I’m rich when I think of the man I married. Our love is rich :) We may not have a lot of money and actually owe soo much that it is going to be years for us on the spending fast. At first I thought I would never marry him because I didn’t want to take on his debt but I’d rather be pinching pennies and getting loads of kisses than the other way around. It also helps that we are on the same page when it comes to the spending fast. Together we are stronger.

I’ve been working hard to change my financial situation and was recently able to take a pay cut to accept my dream job. I feel rich because I’m able to do what I love every single day!

I love my life on those days I know how wealthy I truly am. I have a great big comfortable bed that is a warm and safe place to sleep. I have a bathroom with hot water and a toilet. I have appliances which keep my foid cold or heat my food so it is safe to eat. I have a supportive caring husband – on the same page guy. I have a wonderful daughter who is healthy and working hard at university. I have a full time job with a good boss and benefits.

My mom grew up miserably poor. She lived in a tent during Canadian winters. No bed. No shoes. No running water. Her father died in a forest accident leaving his wife with 8 children destitute.

I am stinking rich. I am ashamed on those days when I whine because I want a new couch or some silly thing. I am proud and extremely happy when I know I’m not wasting my good fortune. I am proud because the truth is I have everything I need to be healthy and safe. Rich i tell you. Very rich. :)
