You’ve heard hints about it here and there but I wanted to OFFICIALLY tell you about a new project I’m working on!
I truly feel that *part* of why a lot of us struggle with over-spending is because we feel a *lack* or an *inadequacy* in other areas of our lives… we all, as humans, crave connection. We can’t avoid it or get away from it. We need that to feel connected to others (even if they bug us!?) to be healthy, happy adults, to be the best versions of ourselves.
The idea of “Keeping up with the Joneses” is a perfect example of how this relates to our debt-free community…
How many times have you thought this (a lot of times I don’t think we even realize we’re telling ourselves these things!) because these thoughts can be so incredibly subtle and pervasive!:
– “If ONLY I had this or that THEN things would be OKAY
– “Once I look a certain way THEN I’ll be happy/worthy/will fit in… ” OR “Once I get these shoes/clothes/house/job then it will all be okay. That’s when I’ll know I’ve succeeded. That’s when they’ll respect me”
– “This ‘thing’ (could be anything!) is going to solve all my problems! THIS is the answer! “
Feeling jealous of other people’s financial success, feeling like we should be farther along in our life or careers compared to others, having a general dissatisfaction with our lives. ALL of these things, thoughts and feelings can lead us to looking outside of ourselves for a quick fix and answer to these BIG, DEEP issues. It’s way easier to get shopping or distract ourselves than to focus on the deeper issues.
We can’t fill the emptiness with things. If that worked (long-term) we wouldn’t have to keep doing it.
I’m kind of nervous because in it we talk about things I’ve NEVER, EVER shared publicly before. ? And…. well… that’s kinda scary! You’re going to get to see a different side of me and you’re going to get to know me better than ever before. Ahhhhh … I’d LOVE your support!!
Here’s more about what the podcast is about:
In a world where we are more in touch than ever but meaningful connections are lacking, 3 friends, Amy Moore, Anna Newell Jones and Erin Linehan have taken their coffee shop chats to the podcast studio. They explore connection and how to show up as your true self.
We’re going to be launching soon and because of the success of the Spending Fasters Group we decided to start a community for the our Less Alone podcast listeners to connect in! It’ll be our place to get to know each other, chat, and connect! ;)
I really hope you join us over in the community! It’s gonna be fun! <3
