“It is always the simple that produces the marvelous.” – Amelia Barr
It’s cliché, but the smallest, simplest things in life truly are the best. I recently went on a trip and the only souvenir I brought back home was a photo booth picture of myself and my husband. And that small, $4.00 photo means more to me than any key chain, coffee mug, or t-shirt ever could. Sometimes simple things produce marvelous results.
What small things in your life have produced marvelous results? Let’s chat in the comments.
The momento that means the most from all my trips over the years is a plastic Wilderness Lodge travel mug that I got for almost nothing during a 1997 visit to WaltDisney World – the “trip of a lifetime” for my 87-year old mother, who’d longed to see EPCOT ever since hearing Walt announce it back in the early ’60s. Every time I use it or just spot it, memories of that remarkable trip to & from come to mind. Nothing fancy, but priceless.
Once on a trip we went grocery shopping at a store where we could either pay 10 cents for each plastic bag we would need to bag everything, or buy a reusable bag from that store, so we did. It’s a nice, sturdy, canvas bag with the store’s logo and location and a cute illustration. We found the bag handy for the rest of the trip for carrying various things around and now we use it for grocery shopping at home. Every time we get it out, we remember our vacation.
