We are now entering the hottest months of the year, but there’s still enough time to follow through with one of these creative ways to save money in summer. Summer is the month where planned vacations and trips often take shape. It’s the time, marked with bright days and warm weather that most of us have been looking forward too.

However, the anticipation can quickly change once the expenses of summer start to kick in. Sure, it’s fun to engage in the frivolities of summer. Yet, the cost can dig us into a stressful and uncomfortable financial pit.

It doesn’t always have to be this way! You can save money in Summer, too! And it’s not even as difficult as you might think. Below we discuss the top tips on how to save money in Summer that adds up to over $500!

Unplug Unused Appliances

Unplug the appliances that you rarely rely on or can go without using on a regular basis. Anything from DVD players and televisions to surround systems, keep them unplugged when not in use. Or when it comes to devices phones and cameras, keep them unplugged once fully charged.

Leaving these devices plugged in only drains electricity and racks up the electricity bill. Of course, you want to keep appliances such as the refrigerator plugged in to keep food fresh;  But you can totally unplug the coffee machine when you aren’t using it.

Close the Curtains

Sure, the air conditioners help a ton when it comes to keeping the air inside the house cool. Yet, overusing and overworking them is one way of racking up an insanely large bill. The hotter the air inside a house becomes, the more likely the air conditioner will get overworked. To keep the hot air and sunlight out,  keep the curtains closed.

Open Your Windows

This means that you turn off your Air Conditioner when you do not need it. Sure, it’s hot and humid, but cracking a few windows should help let some air inside the house. It would be best to do this at night when the outside air is much cooler.

As previously mentioned, closing your curtains during the day helps ward off the sunlight and heat. Cracking the windows open at night, however, helps get rid of the hot air that may have built up during the day. By opening the windows on either end of the house for cross ventilation, you can get a natural breeze. This way, you do not have to overuse the air conditioner.

Dry Your Laundry Outside

Air drying your clothes will help cut down on electric and gas costs considerably. Summer often comes with bright days and hot weather. Why not take advantage of it?

Air drying your clothes will also help your clothes last longer. Dryers can tend to fade our clothes or wear them down over time.

Travel With A Group of Friends Or Family

Instead of skipping out on a summer vacation altogether, why not team up? Teaming up with friends and family can allow you to cost share on the travelling expenses. Moreover, traveling as a group means safety and fun.

There are a lot of ways to save money in summer. You just need to take advantage of the weather and identify money draining expenses. For instance, keeping your appliances and devices always plugged in is a no-no.

    We go to the neighborhood pool from 12-3 when admission is $0. Eat lunch at home, bring snacks, then cool ? off for free. It’s awesome!
