Having Everything…

having everthing that catches your eye isn't all it's cracked up to be

“Having everything that catches your eye is not all it’s cracked up to be.”

One of the main things I learned on the Spending Fast was that buying everything that caught my eye wasn’t really as awesome as I thought it was. I wasn’t able to see this clearly when I was in the habit of buying everything but when I stepped out of the buying cycle that’s when the clarity came.

During the Spending Fast I found I got more freedom and more happiness when I said, “No” to material items I lusted after then when I indulged in them. Now isn’t that somethin’?

If you’re in the thick of the spending and over-spending cycle do you think you might find freedom from getting out of the cycle too? Believe me, you can change your life right now if you want to.

Let’s face it. Stuff gets boring fast! The novelty wears off after sometime and than 56″ shiny new telly starts looking misplaced :) There is definitely freedom in breaking the vicious circle of shopping, I actually find it more empowering, knowing I have the money and I ain’t buying. Drawing a line across the sands in defiance to shopping as it is!

Could not agree more. I was so shocked (and completely pleased) to find how free I felt when I stopped spending. Who would’ve guessed that was going to happen!?! Surely not me!

We made a rule in our house – no impulse buys over $20. However, if we remember that we wanted it later and wrote it on a list, then we could have it. It’s amazing how quick we forget about things that catch our eye when we’re out and about! Then again, it’s rewarding when we actually to get to have the things we wanted – and planned for it!
