DIY Birthday Card Banner – Skip That Expensive Store Card

I hate spending money on birthday cards. Usually, they are lame and cost a pretty penny. So, say you fork out the money to actually buy the card. Then, you get to stuff it in an envelope, tape it to a gift, and watch it get glanced at for 20 seconds before getting thrown out. And that’s when you’ve actually written a nice note inside. If you didn’t write a nice note, don’t expect that card to last past a few seconds.

So why spend the money when you can make your own birthday card banner for pennies? Your kids will love taking it to parties, and the party child will be delighted when they see what you’ve brought.

How To Make a DIY Birthday Card Banner…

Supplies:

Glassine Bags
Permanent markers
Bag stuffers – such as candy, stickers, & small cheap toys
String
Tape

Write out your message on the front of the bags. Stuff those little bags full of the fun treats from the dollar store that you’ve put together. Tape the bags closed. Next, punch holes at the top of the bags and thread the string through to complete your banner.

Next time you send your child off to a birthday party, be sure to try this out! It could also double as a gift, all costing the same as a convenient store card. You can stuff so many fun gadgets into these little bags.

What would you fill your birthday card banner with?

What a lovely idea! I’ve started wrapping all our gifts in plain butcher paper – my daughter draws a little picture/writes a message and signs it. No cards to buy or get lost in the shuffle, no last minute gift-wrap shopping.
