I just love this comment that reader Katie left. She says “It’s so great that And Then We Saved helps us see that saving can be as much fun as spending.” That just made my day!

Yay! It's totally true. :) At the end of each week when I don't spend money on non-essentials, I reward myself by transferring $20 or $30 to my savings account. It has been really fun to see my little balance grow. You are awesome!
You're too kind! Though, I'm really glad to hear that it's working for you and thhat you're making progress. So great!
Katie, I love that idea! We do a monthly automatic transfer to savings and then a transfer from that to the kids' college funds. We now have a pretty substantial amount in savings and it is growing every month. But I would love to add more to it. You never know when you're going to have an emergency.
One cool saving tip I discovered is that every morning and every evening, I will transfer the change portion of my checking account to my savings account. So if the balance is 10.59, well then .59 is being transferred. I remember the first time I got to like $20. I felt like it happened so quickly. And sometimes, if I have extra , I’ll do like 5 and whatever the change is. I live out of state and 16 hours home for Christmas in a car is a long trip, so it encouraged me to save for a plane ticket.. And I did! Felt wonderful to not put it on my credit card and it felt like free money since it was always change! :)
