Courage to Continue

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston Churchill

Courage is what gets you through the hard times. Courage tells you, “It’s OK, start again,” after that impulse purchase. Courage tells you to keep going even after that unexpected expense. Courage to continue is what counts.

How are you gathering up courage to continue? Do you have a song or a phrase that gives you courage? Talk to me about it in the comments!

My mantra is: “Yes, you can!” Meaning that i the face of all the evidence to the contrary, I stand back up and affirm that it is possible, and dooable, to get rid of this debt, AND remain debt free. At the march yesterday, I saw plenty of signs saying “Yes we can!” I believe that as individuals, as well as in groups, taking a stand, based on nothing except pure intention, is still the most powerful human motivator on the planet. So, I affirm, again, that I can continue to whittle away at the debt, despite making a bed decision that cost me money a few days ago. That is only a blip on the screen. The river is flowing toward debt freedom!

I like this! It’s so, so easy to get discouraged when you don’t reach your money-saving goals. It’s all about getting back on your feet and trying again. Sometimes that does mean adjusting your expectations, but you still have to more forward.
