A few years ago at Alt Summit I got to meet Moorea Seal. We had been internet buds for a bit and meeting her in real-life was weird and awesome. I say “weird” only because when you only know someone from the internet it’s easy to make up an idea about what they are like then when you meet them in person you have to reconcile the preconceived ideas about them with the real-life reality of them. Surreal? Maybe that’s the word I’m looking for?
All that to say that Moorea is just as amazing in person as I imagined she would be. She ambitious, crazy talented, and basically a visual, curating genius.
On her blog she started a project where she would post a list each week, share her responses, and invite her readers to complete their own lists. Some of her prompts were things like “list what you are grateful for” and “list the wildest things you want to try”. The project resonated with her readers and the project spread across the internet.
Now! She’s written a book called The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration. The book has 52 prompts, 1 for each week of the year, that match up with the seasons. Plus, I’ve got to tell you, this book is stunning. It’s got gold foil on the cover and gorgeous photographs throughout.
The thing I love most about this book is how it makes you think about things you otherwise wouldn’t have thought about. The focus shifts from the external to the internal. I’m all about things that help you reflect where you are and where you want to go. This book does that.
I just got started on my 1st list and I picked List 51: List the Things That You Want to Be Known For. At first, it was hard. Well, for one I didn’t want to write in a hard bound book (residual memories from my elementary and middle school days?) so I wrote my list in pencil..;) Once I started writing I really enjoyed it, and was surprised by some of by automatic responses to the prompt. For example, “to always be on Henry’s side” and “to be known for being present”. #phoneguilt
I hope you check out this book because it really is awesome!

Known for doing good work!
I want to be known for always doing my best to be honest. I used to lie a lot growing up, and I noticed how much negativity it brought into my life (around high school). Now even if the littlest white lie slips out, I try to stop and correct it. I’ve had some people mention how much they appreciate that and I hope this is a life-long habit.
