52 Lists Project (GIVEAWAY CLOSED)

52 Lists Project Book Moorea Seal - Giveaway

52 Lists Project Book Moorea Seal - Giveaway

A few years ago at Alt Summit I got to meet Moorea Seal. We had been internet buds for a bit and meeting her in real-life was weird and awesome. I say “weird” only because when you only know someone from the internet it’s easy to make up an idea about what they are like then when you meet them in person you have to reconcile the preconceived ideas about them with the real-life reality of them. Surreal? Maybe that’s the word I’m looking for?

All that to say that Moorea is just as amazing in person as I imagined she would be. She ambitious, crazy talented, and basically a visual, curating genius.

On her blog she started a project where she would post a list each week, share her responses, and invite her readers to complete their own lists. Some of her prompts were things like “list what you are grateful for” and “list the wildest things you want to try”. The project resonated with her readers and the project spread across the internet.

Now! She’s written a book called The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration. The book has 52 prompts, 1 for each week of the year, that match up with the seasons. Plus, I’ve got to tell you, this book is stunning. It’s got gold foil on the cover and gorgeous photographs throughout.

The thing I love most about this book is how it makes you think about things you otherwise wouldn’t have thought about. The focus shifts from the external to the internal. I’m all about things that help you reflect where you are and where you want to go. This book does that.

I just got started on my 1st list and I picked List 51: List the Things That You Want to Be Known For. At first, it was hard. Well, for one I didn’t want to write in a hard bound book (residual memories from my elementary and middle school days?) so I wrote my list in pencil..;) Once I started writing I really enjoyed it, and was surprised by some of by automatic responses to the prompt. For example, “to always be on Henry’s side” and “to be known for being present”. #phoneguilt

I hope you check out this book because it really is awesome!

I want to be known for always doing my best to be honest. I used to lie a lot growing up, and I noticed how much negativity it brought into my life (around high school). Now even if the littlest white lie slips out, I try to stop and correct it. I’ve had some people mention how much they appreciate that and I hope this is a life-long habit.

This looks like an amazing self-reflection journal that I need. I would like to be known for being able to brighten up a room with a smile, heal sorrow with kind words, and be remembered for being giving.

I’d like to be known as the person you’d call in the middle of the night to bail you out of jail…the friend and family member that you can count on when you need a hand, a shoulder, an ear, or a kidney. I try to always show up and be there for the people in my life that matter and I’ve seen how it comes back to me tenfold. :)

I want to be known to my husband as a supportive and loving wife, and a loving and encouraging mother to my children. My family is my number 1 in life, I want to be known by them.

I want to be known for using my life to help people and animals in tough situations. I don’t need to be known for it by others, I just want to discover and know myself through helping others. ahuskin at gmail dot com

I want to be known as The Best Aunt in the World (a title I have already given myself, but hope that my nieces and nephews agree with!)

I want to be known by my future family! My husband and I are planning on adopting four children. I want to truly be present in their lives and spend as much time together as a family as we can!

I would like to be known for being kind and inspiring others in positive ways. People who made the greatest impact in my life have always inspired me in some way (to be kinder, more compassionate/ creative/healthy/charitable, to cultivate beauty, etc.). Oh, and for being elegant and chic! Hopefully… :)

I want to be known for being brave. I want to live my life to the fullest and not shirk away from any opportunity because I’m scared to fail or succeed.

My family is a bunch of list makers, I’m loving this idea.

I wasn’t to be known for being a good example to others (With family, with friends, friends kids, with my marriage). Mistakes and learning from them, I want to be seen as getting life right.

I want to be known for caring for people through helpful advice. Over the last year and a half, I’ve started to embrace the idea that a lot of people come to me to ask what I think about local businesses or recommendations for services or my opinions on schools. I want to be known as someone who won’t send someone down the wrong path. If I give advice, I want the person to feel cared for and like I really considered their needs.
