People Watching: Free Entertainment

What are your favorite free/low-cost forms of entertainment? I love people watching. It’s so easy to zone out in an airport or other busy spaces and just watch and watch and watch. It gets meditative too in a way. That’s for sure one of my favorites.

What are your favorite things to do for free entertainment?

    Anna,

My husband and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary on April 15th. Our oldest son offered to watch the younger two so we could go out to dinner and my mother was nice enough to send us a $100 check so that we didn't have to pay for it.

When the night came, it was absolutely POURING rain and neither of us felt like dressing up and going to the restaurant in that, so we ended up getting Chinese takeout for less than half of what we would have spent on the expensive place, banking the rest (you know, those rising gas prices), and watching a movie which I have now forgotten.

My absolute favorite way to not spend money is to watch movies on cable. We don't get the special channels like HBO or any of those premium movie ones, but the less expensive digital cable shows a lot of our favorite movies on a regular basis and once in awhile I'll catch something I haven't seen before, which is a treat. I'd much rather stay in and watch a cable movie than go out and spend the $40 it would cost the two of us to go to the a cramped theater where inevitably someone taller than you is right in the seat in front of you and people won't stop talking. I much prefer the comfort of my living room and microwave popcorn!

My plans this weekend include reading books while laying on the grass, spring cleaning, and getting engagement pictures done! Woo!

I LOVE this whole royal wedding thing. I wish there were a whole channel that focused exclusively on royal weddings. Have you seen their crazy hats?

Not the cheapest, but I'm running two 5k's, one tonight, one Sat. a.m. Then will take the bike out for a ride in the sunshine, will watch the Indians beat up on Detroit on TV. There's a juried art show for $6 admission at the local civic center, if it rains, and also an open house to wander through. Love the exterior of the house and its yard, but the photos make the inside look like it's a real project. I want to snoop through to see if my hunch is right.

hmmmm this weekend… lets see besides catching up on errands and the usual cleaning we are going to take our son (he's 3 1/2) to pick strawberries! He is gonna love it and I would have paid about that much to get them at the store anyways.

I think the Royal wedding is just fabulous! so fun and such a fairytale! I just wish my Ella was old enough to get a kick out of it and watch it too- she is only 10 months old. Maybe by the time the other "wild" brother gets married she'll be old enough!
